For more than 25 years, the current CenterPointe Hospital site has operated under various names and national owners to serve the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents in its community. The present Hospital, under its current local ownership and management, opened in April 2003 as a provider of psychiatric services for adults, adolescents and children serving a bi-state regional service area.
Prior to opening in 2003, a group of private practice psychiatrists and other individuals with professional and/or personal interest in behavioral health began meeting and developing a plan to purchase, revamp and restructure the existing psychiatric hospital with limited services in St. Charles, MO, previously managed by a national health care chain. The project, spearheaded by St. Louis area psychiatrist Azfar Malik, MD, MBA, became a reality when CenterPointe Hospital opened under its new local owner and manager, Little Hills Healthcare, LLC, as the area's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital designed to offer a continuum of behavioral health services for children, adolescents and adults.
Currently, after more than doubling the number of operating beds and expanding our services, CenterPointe provides an extensive range of psychiatric services for all ages (including treatment for dual diagnosis) as well as a continuum of care for adult chemical dependency. The Hospital now serves the greater St. Louis metropolitan area including St. Charles and Franklin counties, southeastern and central Missouri and southern and central Illinois. In addition to our main hospital in St. Charles, CenterPointe offers outpatient and assessment locations in Washington, Mo., and in South St. Louis County. |
