St. Charles, Missouri’s Premier Partial Hospitalization (PHP) Program for Behavioral Health

CenterPointe Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri, offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adolescents and adults who are struggling with mental health concerns and substance use disorders. Patients who participate in our PHP receive evidence-based care that can help them learn to manage their symptoms and make significant progress toward an improved quality of life.

About Our Partial Hospitalization Program

Adolescents ages 12-17 and adults age 18 and older can participate in CenterPointe Hospital’s partial hospitalization program. All patients receive age-appropriate care that can help promote the most optimal outcomes.

Patients can enter our PHP directly, after stepping down from a higher level of care, or after stepping up from a less intensive level of care. Our PHP is designed to provide a structured treatment model while allowing patients the flexibility to return home when sessions aren’t taking place.

Patients attend programming in our PHP for four to five hours each day, with an average length of stay of five to seven days.

Features & Services

Each patient in our partial hospitalization program receives a personalized treatment plan that consists of only the therapeutic interventions we believe will be most beneficial for them.

Treatment modalities we use to help patients develop coping skills and make behavioral changes include:

  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance therapies
  • 12-Step model of recovery
  • Motivational interviewing

Depending on a patient’s personalized treatment plan, services they may receive in our PHP include:

  • Basic medical care
  • Medication management services
  • Weekly individual therapy
  • Family therapy on an as-needed basis
  • Daily group therapy

Group therapy serves as the core component of treatment in our PHP. Patients participate in a variety of processing and psychoeducation groups led by our clinical therapists. Topics in these sessions may include coping skills, anger management, emotion regulation, radical acceptance, and more.

Admissions Process

To begin the admissions process, we invite prospective patients to contact our assessment and referral department. Our staff will schedule an assessment that allows us to understand your current needs.

This process helps us learn more about your medical history and any previous treatment you may have participated in. Once the assessment is complete, we’ll be able to determine if our partial hospitalization program is the best fit for you. If it’s not, we’ll provide a recommendation for the level of care we feel is more appropriate.

If we agree that our PHP best suits your needs, we’ll begin the admissions process immediately. A multidisciplinary team of professionals will create your personalized treatment plan, and soon you’ll be participating in the therapeutic interventions that can allow you to understand your diagnosis and work toward healing.

Continuing Care

A stay in our partial hospitalization program is just one step on your journey toward better health. That’s why we will start preparing for your discharge as soon as you begin treatment in our PHP.

This helps us assure a seamless continuum of care if you’re stepping up to residential or inpatient treatment or stepping down to our intensive outpatient program (IOP). We will involve you, your family, and the staff members who assist you during your time at CenterPointe Hospital in this process.

We want to see you build on the skills you acquired during your time with us and take the next step on your healing journey.
