CenterPointe Hospital Now Admitting Patients for Virtual Outpatient Therapy
As a new service to patients who are not able to leave their homes due to social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic and for a variety of other reasons, CenterPointe Hospital’s outpatient clinics have expanded their capacity to provide virtual outpatient behavioral health therapy at three outpatient locations in the Greater St. Louis/St. Charles Metro Area – St. Louis West County, St. Louis South County and St. Charles.
Virtual outpatient behavioral health therapy, also known as telemental health therapy, telemedicine or telehealth, is a term used to describe mental health and substance use counseling that you can receive from the comfort of your own home in front of your PC smartphone or tablet.
Around the country, this health crisis and disruption to our daily lives has caused stress, anxiety, grief, sadness and has exacerbated mental health and addiction issues such as severe depression, severe anxiety, trauma, domestic violence and drug/alcohol use.
Research studies quoted in Telemental Health Institute indicate that telemental health is equivalent to face-to-face therapies in terms of effectiveness, with the added convenience of a private space, no commute miles and at no extra cost.In addition to the program’s accessible, easy-to-use video conferencing platform, our virtual systems comply with federal and state health care privacy regulations (e.g., meets HIPAA-compliant telemedicine standards). CenterPointe’s virtual outpatient behavioral health programs are secure and are supervised by a team of licensed, experienced professionals who provide the same evidence-based treatment programming as our in-person equivalent and includes patient-centered, individualized plans of care for each patient. Most private insurance is accepted.
CenterPointe’s inpatient hospital programs are also available for individuals who are in the midst of a mental health emergency. “In resuming patient intake, we are continuing the important work of providing behavioral health and addiction services during this challenging and uncertain time,” says CenterPointe Chief Medical Officer Azfar Malik, M.D.
